Part III of the Courage Series: The Courage to Begin Again

In March we wrapped up the winter session of Courageous Chutney Charcha:

yes, it's a real thing,
yes it involves actual chutney, and yes, it is as rich as it sounds.

Why am I writing this in April? Because like many of you, I had far too much on my plate and kept putting this off. I did not want to lose the lessons of this session. Both for your benefit and even mine. So here we are:

Every session, someone brings a chutney that holds a story. This time it was Shreya, who walked in with a blend of cranberry, apples, sultanas and a mystery vegetable. (Recipe coming soon. The suspense is intentional. 😄)

And then the Charcha (conversation) began.
Shreya told us that the first time she saw her son dip a kebab in tamarind chutney, she nearly had a small cardiac event.

"Tamarind chutney is NOT for kebabs."

We've all been there. That quiet internal gasp when someone breaks an unspoken rule you didn't even know you were carrying.
And just like that ✈️we were off.

Because that's the question at the heart of every Chutney Charcha.
Who gave us these rules? And do they still serve us?
About growing up between worlds — Mumbai and New Jersey, tradition and reinvention, who we were told to be and who we're becoming.
About staying deeply rooted and wildly curious at the same time.
About giving ourselves permission. Not the loud, dramatic kind. The quiet, courageous kind. Permission to explore who we are beyond our culture and conditioning without losing what makes us us.

That's why I created this space. Real stories, genuine conversations, and occasionally a very unexpected flavour combination that changes everything.

You can see the recap of the first two sessions here and here.

Recipe coming soon.

The suspense is intentional. 😄

If something in this touched a nerve, I invite you to explore if the root reset offer is the right fit for you.

FAQ

  • Courageous Chutney Charcha (CCC) is a small, intentional gathering where women come together over food and honest conversation. Each session centers around a theme of courage, beginning again, saying no, being visible, and blends storytelling, reflection, and meaningful dialogue. Yes, there is real chutney. And yes, it always carries a story.

  • Each gathering begins with a personal story (often connected to the chutney someone brings), followed by guided conversation around the theme of courage. There’s no pressure to perform or have perfect answers. You can share deeply or simply listen. The goal is reflection, connection, and giving yourself quiet permission to grow.

  • Because you don’t have to untangle your questions alone. CCC offers something rare, a space where you can reflect honestly, speak freely, and examine the quiet rules you’ve been living by. It’s not about fixing yourself. It’s about understanding yourself more deeply. If you’re craving thoughtful conversation, meaningful connection, and the courage to begin again (in ways big or small), this space was created with you in mind.
